Birthing

This afternoon I had the opportunity to attend a mother as she brought a beautiful baby girl into the world. What an awesome experience. It never ceases to amaze me, the miracle of childbirth.
I love my job! Of course having said that there are many long, sleepless nights spent with laboring women as they work toward bring their baby into the world. Tonight was great as it was an out-of-hospital birth (my favorite kind) and went perfectly. Now it is time to head to the hospital to assist another woman in her journey. Tomorrow will show a bleary eyed nurse practitioner seeing patients but tonight will be filled with the joy of birth.

Teenager Girls

Today was spent in Medford with four teenage girls looking for homecoming dresses, thankfully there were four mom's as well. We went to every store in the mall that had formal dresses, left the mall to check out other stores and returned to the mall to re-visit the stores we had already checked. After having make up done and buying out Macy's we found "the" dress. (It will follow when we have the makeup, shoes and jewlery just so).

Kandi and I found our dream car . . . . although after buying dresses, shoes, and jewlery we know that we cannot afford it!

Anyone that does not have teenage girls should have to "lease" one so that they can have the full experience of shopping, listening to how "hot" the waiter is when you go to dinner and finding out that your "really old". Oh - to be young again.

Run

Last night I told myself I was going to get up and go for a run, the last few days I have been down and out with a cold. So this morning I woke and looked at the thermometer which was a lovely 29.9 degrees. Thankfully it was beautiful outside and I pulled out my running clothes, turned on the coffee maker and headed out for a crisp morning run. This morning was a run down Hurds Gulch road and since I strategically planned it I was able to meet my husband coming home from the hospital and get a ride back to the house - that may be taking the easy way out but . . . hey it is only January. Below is the view from my house and the road, if you look close you can see it, that I ran.

New Start

Just a few weeks ago I joined Facebook, at my daughters request. Now I find that I have friends when I am awake at 2:30am! I was also able to catch up with friends that live far, near and added bonus, see what my kids are up to. As a new years resolution I decided to get back into running and decided who better to ask than a woman who does it all, Rachel Ross. If I had 1/2 of her drive and dedication I wouldn't have to be getting back into running. So, the long term goal . . . Nike Woman's Marathon 2009 in San Fransisco. The short term running 3-4 miles 3-4 times a week.

This is my part of California, where we have snow days built into the kids school schedule. This year has been mostly freezing weather with not enough wet stuff! The cold makes me want to stay inside bundled up while the kids want to go outside to play! Soon I will get myself motivated and pull out the winter running clothes that I used to use as the treadmill is getting old. I can't imagine a life of only treadmill running. If I wait long enough to pull out the clothes it will be spring.

My 9th grade daughter, Chesla, just came home and informed me that she is the Freshman homecoming princess! Guess that means a trip or two up to Medford to look for a dress. Can't they just wear jeans and a t-shirt?
